D Sharp Medium Professional Bamboo Flute or Kali-2 is approximately 16.5 inches long flute and is the forth flute of 5th octave. The flute is tuned to sound D#5 pitch (622.26 Hz) when the upper three holes are closed.

When all the six holes are closed, the flute sounds A# note of 4th octave (A#4).

Structure and Format : D Sharp Medium Professional Flute

The D Sharp Medium Professional Bamboo Flute which is also called Kali-2 bansuri is a transverse flute with a mouth hole and six finger holes. A 7th hole made offset from the line of the finger hole determines its 5th Note which is A#.

The 7th hole when closed produce A4 note, which is also called Tivra Madhyam (Mandra Saptak).

The format of D Sharp Medium Bamboo Flute is Hindustani Style. The Kali-2 Hindustani or the North Indian Bansuri is designed to sound the root note i.e D# note (622.26 Hz Hz) when the upper three holes are closed.

How to Play Complete Octave on D Sharp Bansuri?

The full octave of the C scale on the D Sharp Medium Bansuri is played as follows:

• D#5 : Upper three holes closed
• F5 : Upper tow holes closed
• G5 : The top hole is closed
• G#5 : Half of the top hole is closed
• A#5 : When all six holes are covered and air is blown with a relatively strong force (if blown gently, the lower notes will be produced)
• C6 : When the last hole is opened (relatively stronger blow)
• D6 : Last two holes are opened (relatively stronger blow)
• D#6 : Upper three holes closed (relatively stronger blow)

Note : For A#5, C6, D6, & D#6 note, one has to blow relatively stronger, else lower octave notes will sound.
